  • SUSTAINABLE PROCESS

We put sustainability at the core of everything we do at Blacksaw. We use natural or recycled fibers, and our factories take great care of their resources by using renewable energies and paying close attention to safety,  fair trade, and pro-social practices.

    ALPACA CONSERVATION

Our Partners in South America work on sustaining the alpaca population through advanced shearing and genetic selection techniques that help ensure the alpaca conservation.

They work with local shepherds to not only ensure the highest quality fiber, but to provide a better income and an education to the great people who raise and care for these spirited creatures.

Our partnership provides support for the sustainable development of alpaca raising. The fundamental goal is to generate benefits for all those involved in the supply chain, especially the thousands of rural families who make a living from these magical natural resources in the harsh conditions of the Peruvian highlands.

    FACTORY

With the motto’s “working with nature” & “working responsibly” we are confident that we have the right partners to manufacture our designs. Our factory not only focuses on high-quality materials, technology and manufacturing, but they specialize in taking care of the environment & giving their workers above average standards.

    WHAT IS BABY ALPACA WOOL?

Don’t worry, we are not harming or shearing baby Alpacas.  Blacksaw Baby Alpaca is humanely shorn each spring from the underside and neck of our alpaca’s, where the wool is the finest and softest.  This is what makes it “Baby Alpaca”.  It is the fine grade of the wool they carefully sort and use to make our 100% Baby Alpaca blankets.

The Alpaca’s are not harmed in the shearing process and their fleece starts to grows back immediately.

Once the alpaca wool has been harvested, it is spun into our signature Blacksaw Baby Alpaca yarn and later woven with great detail into our signature Blacksaw blankets and throws.

BLACKSAW makes all efforts to use natural un-dyed fibers whenever possible.  We will continue to push the limits of our manufacturers, searching for more eco-friendly practices such as using natural dyes.
